Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with prior experience in API development and a drive to work on technology that supports impactful climate solutions. You’ll collaborate with a team of developers, scientists, and climate experts to expand our data platform and enhance our custom Emission Factor Query and Calculation Engine, built in Rust. You will also help design and build new functionalities for our API and applications. We are looking for self driven engineers who bring fresh ideas and are able to develop a product autonomously in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance APIs that power the infrastructure for carbon intelligence globally and across industries for all business activities and products.
- Play a key role delivering key data and insights into leading software platforms used by the largest enterprises across the world, powering billions of calculations in critical environments via our API, enhancing carbon visibility and climate action for organizations.
- Collaborate with your peers in code reviews and knowledge-sharing to strengthen team expertise and development standards.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to align on priorities, set deliverables, and ensure impactful outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building external facing REST APIs as Software as a Service.
- Experience using Rust in production or side projects with significant scope.
- Experience using TypeScript in production, for backend and frontend applications.
- Self-driven and comfortable working autonomously, with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating across remote teams, ensuring clear, effective, and aligned outcomes.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3+ years using TypeScript in production, for backend and frontend applications.
- Experience or strong interest in Next.js for building high-quality web applications.
- Familiarity with Python or Machine Learning is a plus.
- Experience with managing AWS infrastructure is a plus.
- Prior experience with FaunaDB or PostgreSQL is a plus, especially in a production environment.
- Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
