Alice & Bob is a deep tech company going through an R&D stage to build the first fault-tolerant Quantum Computer. We secured 30 million USD in funding to further develop our unique technology.
We are a young team with some of the brightest scientific minds joining us straight from completing their PhD or university. We are serious about our mission and participation in the quantum race alongside tech giants like Google and IBM, however we are also keen to create ever-lasting memories. Including lots of celebrations and fun, as we continue to have many successes along the way to our ultimate goal of building the first Universal, fault-tolerant Quantum Computer! Which can have large positive impact for humanity. Do you want to join a team that is trying to change the world?
Project Summary
One of the goals of the Machine Learning & Optimization team is to estimate efficiently the physical parameters of a cat qubit. This involves designing a physical model, an optimization routine, and a strategy for selecting the next measurement to perform. This strategy may either be a model-based, interpretable routine or a model-free, high-performance neural network. The goal of the internship is to study and optimise this measurement selection process.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced machine learning algorithms and test them directly on quantum hardware. You will collaborate with a young, dynamic and talented team with a wide range of expertise. You’ll gain experience in both research and the practical implementation of these algorithms in real-world quantum systems.

Responsibilities- Become familiar with the physical model and basic experiment design procedures
- Improve non-convex optimization techniques for estimating physical parameters
- Develop a policy network for experiment design trained on simulations
- Implement your code in a high-performance tensor library
- Test your method on Alice & Bob's quantum hardware
Requirements- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in machine learning, seeking a 4-6 month internship.
- Completed coursework in machine learning, optimization, and deep learning.
- You are curious about quantum dynamics and physical simulation (prior knowledge is a plus but not required).
- You are experienced in Python programming and numerical modeling. You are familiar with a tensor library (PyTorch, Jax).
- You are a curious, motivated, and proactive individual with a desire to contribute to cutting-edge research in a fast-paced environment.
